From January 7 to February 11, 2012 Toronto Public Library ran a bookmark contest to celebrate Canadian Children's Book Week.
One winner was chosen at each branch and bookmobile from each of the three age groups:

* up to 6 years
* 7 to 9 years
* 10 to 13 years

From the winning entries 16 bookmarks are chosen for publication. There are 4 Elizabeth Cleaver Winners and 12 Grand Award Winners.

At a special award celebration in the spring, winners receive a book prize and 100 copies of their bookmark. The bookmarks are then made available in all the branches.
